Is digital visibility a good thing or a bad thing? I don’t think there is a single answer to that. It depends on the person, the purpose, and the way visibility is used.
It depends on who you ask!
First of all, I want to make it clear that I have no intention of judging or criticizing anyone. I simply want to share my thoughts based on my own experiences.
For years, I was someone who preferred not to be too visible online. In fact, I even thought that was a good thing. Over time, however, my perspective started to change. I realized that when used in the right way, visibility can be more beneficial than harmful.
One of the main reasons for this change was seeing people I had followed for years openly share the things they built and achieved — people whose work I genuinely admired. Of course, my own professional experiences also played an important role in changing the way I think about visibility.
The real turning point for me was realizing that visibility is not just about social media. It also has a place in professional life.
Before I even started working professionally, there was one idea I kept hearing from different people:
“It’s not only about how much work you do. It also matters whether the right people know about the work you’ve done. Otherwise, you may eventually face difficulties in your career.”
I think I have experienced some of those difficulties myself.
To be clear, I am definitely not talking about doing very little and presenting it as if it were some huge achievement. What I mean is making your work visible and allowing the work you have done to be recognized and appreciated.
You can successfully handle many responsibilities while the people who should know about your contributions remain completely unaware of them. As a result, you may not receive the recognition you deserve. And believe me, that can have a real impact on motivation.
Throughout my professional experience, I had the opportunity to see this firsthand. In the beginning, I did not think much about visibility. I simply focused on doing my job well and improving myself.
But as time went on, there were periods when this approach created difficulties for me. That is why I now feel that it is time — perhaps even past time — for me to start doing something about my own visibility.
I decided to start by improving my visibility online. I do not think having a personal website is a necessity, but I now know that its potential value should not be underestimated.
Carefully crafted websites for everyone! Get in touch today and increase your digital visibility too.
Jokes aside, this is essentially how the idea of designing and launching my own website started.
Here, I want to showcase the projects I have worked on, share my experiences, and hopefully help others by writing about the things I learn along the way.
How successful that will be is something we will find out together. :D
Nothing I have written here is meant to be an absolute truth. I am not saying, “You should definitely do this too, otherwise you are doing something wrong.”
I simply wanted to share the path I have decided to take and some of the thoughts I had at the beginning of that journey.
Also, this is the first time I have written something like this. So if I have expressed something poorly, made a mistake, or could have phrased something better, please forgive me.
Take care, and see you in the next post!Next Article
